Great Fishing in Strange Times

If you read the March and February reports, you heard that a very warm early Spring had set in. What we could not have predicted was the cooling that took place since then, not to mention a global pandemic. We have had more “spring-like” days in May than we did in March. As a result, the fishing has been very good and widespread in April and now into mid-May.

Right now, the fishing can be described as wide open. You really have to decide what you want to catch, because almost everything is available. The snook and redfish on the flats continues to be super fun and productive. The redfish have been huge, some up to 20lbs. The snook come in all sizes, with many larger ones in the mix. Cobia roaming the flats have ranged from 10lbs to 60lbs. Mackerel are all over the place. Snapper are biting. Tarpon have been biting better than in years past. Like I said, it’s wide open. And as for the global pandemic, for now we are open for business and a private charter is one of the best activities out there right now. So if you are looking for that slice of normal, give us a call!
